These sessions have different themes and will make you want to discover more about different art forms!

We will guide you through an array of techniques and have an extensive range of materials on hand to help you create a piece of art you can take away and treasure.

**Themes and subject for the next dates:**

- **Fri 31st Oct 6.30 pm - 9 pm: Day of the Dead/Mosaic Candy Skull:** Create some mosaic art inspired by a candy skull. Your handmade mosaic can be a celebration of your inner spirit, a way to remember a soul of a departed loved one, or simply a moment to relax and explore your creative side, it’s entirely up to you!
- **Sun 2nd Nov 10 am - 12.30 pm: Decal Transfer:** Decals are made of special glass transfer paper printed with the desired image or pattern using ceramic pigments. Working with transfers onto ceramic, also known as decals, involves applying pre-printed designs onto the surface of the ceramic plates/bowls. We have a vast selection to choose from!
- **Sat 29th Nov 1.30 pm - 4 pm: Festive mosaic.** Create a mosaic tile, festive decorations or gifts to take home. The studio shelves are full of treasure for you to use. One of the best stocked mosaic studios in London. The range is unbelievable. You will be introduced to the fundamentals of mosaic which can allow you to progress onto further projects, e.g a mosaic art piece, plant pot, mirror frame, table top - we have all the bases for you to choose.

The price includes the workshop, materials, snacks with a glass of wine/bottle of beer if desired and unlimited coffee and tea, plus 10% off in our studio shop.

Proceeds go towards our community art projects, providing mental well-being and creative health, especially for those facing barriers.

Cannot recommend enough 

This class was very well taught, with support, fun and lots of room for creativity. We had the choice of three types of bisqueware (mugs, bowls and side plates), and could choose two pieces to paint using a wide range of ready-mixed glazes, which will be fired and posted to us. Remember to paint on clear glaze at the end if you want the pieces to be food-safe! My mum and I both made pieces we're really happy with. The venue is lovely - spacious, well equipped and in a pretty courtyard. Very generous refreshments are provided, including a beer or glass of wine if you like. I will definitely be returning!

Brilliant workshop! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though he was cynical beforehand.  John was an excellent teacher; instructive and insightful but not over-bearing or interfering. The range of materials and tools was excellent and inspiring.  This workshop really went beyond our expectations. I absolutely loved the class, it was so in depth and detailed, the snacks were excellent, Kim was absolutely the nicest and kindest and she was so helpful with everything, she was explaining everything so thoroughly and I loved her techniques. There were also very lovely exotic tea flavours I’ve not seen in the market before as well as delicious hot scones with yummy cream and one of the best jams, the best part was the jams were local. I went to an incredible watercolour painting class at Art4space. We were given Prosecco to sip while painting!  And at teatime, we were given warm scones with Devon clotted cream and locally made raspberry and rhubarb jam with exotic wholesome herbal teas! 
The Art tutor, Kim, was very knowledgeable and supportive with getting us all started on a watercolour painting of a meadow. She carefully demonstrated how to start, by painting clouds. Then she showed us how to paint a meadow.. she explained everything very clearly and went round the table helping everyone. The whole class was very relaxing and mindful, especially with gentle music playing in the background.  We all finished with different watercolour paintings in our own style. I’m thrilled with mine and learnt some amazing watercolour techniques from the Tutor. The studio itself has lots of space and a beautiful garden, which we could use to sit or paint outside if we wanted to. I would highly recommend !

Learn to make a unique Picassiette mosaic from broken crockery.

As seen on ITV's Katie Piper's Breakfast Show; Picassiette is a term used to describe a style of mosaic art where broken ceramics are pieced together to create something new and beautiful. Recycling is intrinsic to Picassiette, as the broken pieces can no longer be used as a plate or a vase but are repurposed to make something new and interesting. This philosophy is at the heart of what we do at Art4Space as we are always looking for ways to make art and crafts sustainable, while retaining creativity and beauty.

With over 25 years experience running mosaic workshops, we believe mosaic art can be accessible to anyone, whether you see yourself as a creative person or not. Maybe this is why you often find works of mosaic in outsider or naive art, such as the French artist Raymond Isidore and his "La Maison Picassiette". It is often thought that his mosaics were the first to be coined with the term Picassiette. In the 1930s Isidore began obsessively covering his entire property with decorative mosaics of salvaged crockery. Translated from French, the term picassiette means “stolen plate” or “broken plate” but also a “scrounger” or “sponger". So when Isidore was given the nickname “Picassiette” it suggests that his neighbours were not originally enthusiastic about his artworks, however these days La Maison Picassiette gets over 30, 000 visitors a year, all keen to catch a glimpse of his original creations!

In our Picassiette class you will be given different templates to choose from including a cat, bee, beetle or flower. Our experienced and friendly Art4Space tutor will guide you every step of the way, whether you are a beginner or have mosaic experience, so that everyone will leave with a unique Picassiette mosaic to treasure. This is a great hands-on experience with all the materials provided. You are of course welcome to bring your own broken crockery pieces to use in your artwork, but we also have boxes full of broken plates, cups and vases for you to rummage in.

Brilliant workshop! An amazing way to switch off from the noise of life and tune into ‘real me time’ not digital passive screen watching! Felt great to put my hands to real use and create something I felt very proud to take home. Relaxing way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon with supportive tutors ‘Julie and Gemma’ who I learnt a lot from about the art form of Picassiette. I’m looking forward to booking onto another Art4Space workshop. I will defo be recommending to my friends about the local ‘gem’ of an art studio I’ve come across in Stockwell! The studio is full of amazing resources and art inspiration. They even have a beautiful garden to relax in at anytime you fancy a break. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone who loves switching off from it all and who loves free snacks and a refreshing supply of alcohol and non alcohol drinks.

Make and Mend - Textile Workshop

Lovely class with Natti. We learnt a new and quick way of making patchwork. I also learnt to put a zip by machine and how to use a special Zip foot on the sewing machine . A very pleasant way of spending an evening.  The purse I made is beautiful. I will definitely recommend the course

It was great! My instructor was very helpful and showed us all step by step how to make the purse.
I liked that I could learn the quilting technique during these session and I would like to use it in my future sewing projects.

I had a wonderful evening at the new Art4Space Textile/ Make and Mend Studio . Our lovely Tutor, Natti showed us how to make a beautiful patchwork lined purse with a zip, which I absolutely love! We could choose our fabric combination from a selection of beautiful fabric cotton squares, and the Studio Is very well resourced so we had a sewing machine each.  The sewing machines had been serviced and were working beautifully. At the end, we sewed some beads as a decoration to our purse, from the amazing collection of textile resources in the studio. It was a very relaxing and creative experience because the studio is set in a lovely garden and Natti even gave us a glass of wine and chocolate cake! I would highly recommend

Really enjoyed the make and mend class. I took along a load of clothes that needed repairing. The lovely tutor gave me lots of ideas and guidance on the best way to repair my clothes. I haven't hand sewn or used a machine for yrs and the tutor helped me to repair everything I had brought in and I now feel confident to hand sewn and use a machine. The textiles studio is lovely and chilled, and there were drinks, snacks and cakes provided. It was a lovely evening and I would definitely recommend this class to anyone interested in textiles etc. The tutor is very knowledgeable and patient around a variety of techniques.

It was my first time in the Make & Mend Studio.  It was an amulet workshop, and provided an opportunity to develop a very personal piece of textile.  The session was both brilliantly facilitated and  resourced.

I came along  because wanted to  improve my sewing skills and deepen my understanding of working with textiles.  Both objectives achieved, and a nice amulet to take home

Relaxing doodle stitching evening with a glass of wine. Ellie, the tutor, showed us how to stitch a variety of stitches and came round all of us for a personal explanation and check to see how we were getting on. We sat in a happy room full of textiles and threads, buttons and needles. An absolute delight!

I loved this class. A great room. People in the group were all made to feel welcome and Ellie supported me with learning different stitches. I fully recommend this class - This one was free but I would pay for it in future. Well worth it. 

This workshop was well structured, relaxed, and informative.  Several different stitching techniques what demonstrated with plenty of time for practice and time for creative expression.  The studio was warm relaxed and very well resource..

A lovely evening making a purse out of a tie. I was curious to explore first hand what I could make of it and it was surprisingly easy and fun. Fran is an awesome tutor, patient and gentle with a great sense of humour.  The glass of wine was a lovely addition.

Excellent workshop making flowers from scrap fabrics.  A seemingly complex process was simply explained and with very little sewing I made two beautiful flowers that I will wear in the future. A very enjoyable and satisfying experience.

My daughter and I booked to do the Japanese Kanzashi fabric flower Workshop and it was amazing.  It was a wonderful mother and daughter half term activity for me! The choice of materials is incredible.  There were lots of colourful fabrics to choose from and also amazing buttons and beads to embellish our fabric flowers with.  The Tutor Ellie and her assistant were very supportive and patiently showed us how to make the fabric flowers.   They were attentive to each person if we got stuck .  We were also given a glass of wine and other drinks.  They had relaxing music on and so it was a very calm and relaxing experience. The flowers look so complex when they are finished, but I was surprised how easy they were to make. I would thoroughly recommend this textile workshop! 

This workshop was brilliantly resourced with a fantastic. range of varied materials.  The teaching and facilitation were also of very high-quality..  the session was well timed with most of us being able to completely finish a small tapestry.  The quality of the work produced was very high..

This was my first ever experience of weaving and I learnt the basic skill set.  I’d recommend it to anybody interested in learning about tapestry.

I attended the clothes repair workshop with Morgane in the evening and I was delighted to fix the sleeves on a top that I love but couldn’t wear until fixed. Morgane talked to me about the best approach with the particular fabric, showed me how to work the sewing machine or proceed by hand( which I did in the end as I preferred the control I had over the  fabric that way) 
It was a fun, educational and relaxed evening in one of my favourite places on Earth. Art 4 Space, more importantly the staff are so fantastic, every single one of them, that I look forward to going and being creative and sharing. An absolute sanity saver!

It was a quite cozy and enjoyable workshop, where the lady leading the session was very attentive and helpful. (Sorry! Forgot her name). 
Some useful techniques were shown to us and, when the finishing time was being reached, there was a strong feeling as if no one wanted to leave yet. 
We all reluctantly left, as also getting late. 
It was great to discover other different and interesting women that live in the same neighbourhood I live. 
I sensed a happy feeling of accomplishment. amongst us all. .  
I hope there were many other workshops.

It was a lovely and useful workshop. Several local women were there and very chatty. The lady who was leading the session was incredibly helpful. Very kind and facilitating threads, needles, beads, all the materials and going around checking everyone’s progress, 
Also offered (and prepared!) us a tea or coffee. And tiding herself afterwards. 
There should be more of these kind of events, as transmit loads of good vive and anergy, while learning new stuff and making us connect with others of the community that otherwise we would not ever meet. Hopefully there will be more. 

I did the Festive Felting class with Fran and it was so lovely! Fran was so kind and patient and explained to us how to make Christmas felting decorations to hang on our Christmas trees. Once she had explained it, it was really easy and so effective. We had to shape the wool or felt with a felting needle using a mould, onto a hard sponge.  I made a gingerbread man and a pale-blue snowflake, and I also had time to make a snowman with a blue hat.  Fran showed us how to sew embroidery detail onto our felting and how to create the string on top to hang it.  There was a gorgeous selection of embroidery threads to choose colours from! So I gave my gingerbread man green buttons and a black bow tie as well as cream, coloured eyes and a smile. I also sewed on cris-cross stars onto my snowflake. Fran then produced lots of pots of beads and we could sew beads onto our felting too.  Fran helped me with threading the needle with the embroidery thread. We had Christmas music the whole afternoon and Fran also made us cups of tea. It was a wonderful experience as the other participants were so nice and so I had a good chat as we all made our felting Christmas decorations together.   I would highly recommend! It is a lot easier than you would think! 😁

The workshop was amazing. My daughter and I loved it. We didn't know how to knit but the teacher had a lot of patience with us and showed us what to do step by step. It was great to see my daughter engaged in this activity, she quickly learned how to knit. Because it was our first time we couldn't finish and my daughter got a bit frustrated but the team offered all the materials needed so she could finish it at home. It was a lovely experience, and a well spent time together. There were people from different backgrounds and ages which is always lovely to see in the same space. The atmosphere was relaxed, the space inspiring and the sense of community was lovely. Thank you!

My second visit to Art4Space, having previously attended the beginners pottery session.  Textile workshop was as enjoyable as Pottery - all made possible by the teacher Natti.
 Natti really is a superb teacher.  Here natural energy and enthusiasm shines out of her.  The atmosphere being very relaxed and humorous but you are left in no doubt that you are here to learn and work.
Everything explained step by step and she constantly checks to make sure you on the right lines. Lovely work space, light clean and welcoming.    Not to mention the welcoming glass of red!  Art4Space will definitely be seeing more of me.

I really enjoyed the Make and Mend workshop with Natalie.  She was fantastic,  very welcoming and clear on all of her instructions. All of the resources were great.
My only observation was,  I had (erroneously) presumed that it would be a workshop about how to repair garments.  So many of us are now trying to live more sustainably. 
However, I thoroughly enjoyed what we did.  Five stars!

We loved our class with Natty, who went above and beyond (including finishing up the class later than planned!) She was a great teacher who was patient and responsive to our many queries. We also really liked what we made in the class.
One small point; I had emailed in advance to see about any materials needed, as I had the impression from the title that it was a mending workshop, rather than creating something new. The email response clarified that it wasn't a mending workshop, so I knew what to expect, but I do think the description at point of booking could be a little clearer. Still had a really wonderful time though, and will definitely be back :)

Our focus will be textiles and sustainable practices, repair, and revive.

You will create your gorgeous bespoke winter wreath using an abundance of supplies, including seasonal foliage, branches, berries, cones, and more, all sourced locally.\

Using the combined skills you can then create up to 2 pieces, which will then be bisque-fired, dipped in our beautiful stoneware glazes, and fired again. Most of our glaze choices are dinnerware safe. The results are stunning! You receive your posted creations within 4-8 weeks, imagine the magical moment when you open your box to reveal the results!

The vessels/pots can be for functional ware or try small sculptural work. You are welcome to come with your own ideas during the mindful 2.5 hours of making with the full support of an experienced ceramic tutor to help you realise your creative design ideas. No experience is necessary as the session is beginner-friendly as well for the more advanced participants.

The popular venue is our stunning Art4Space community arts centre, which is an inclusive, supportive, respectful, welcoming, safe space for everyone. Proceeds go towards our community art projects, providing mental well-being and creative health, especially for those facing barriers.

For private bookings, we can also arrange to come to your venue. **Please note** it is £54 per person for 2-2.5-hour workshop, plus travel expenses. We are flexible with timing; day, evening or weekend, according to availability.

John is a lovely and very patient teacher who will guide you if you are a beginner or have worked with clay before. He is very knowledgeable with clay and glazes etc. It's really relaxing and I highly recommend this for a night out with friends or coming alone to meet new people and being creative. I will be back!

This was a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable workshop. I highly recommend this hand building class. I had lots of fun and learned a lot in the process. The studio was welcoming and had great facilities. The tutor was warm, friendly, very welcoming and knowledgeable. She took the time to explain options, techniques etc throughout the workshop. There was an abundance of materials. I was very proud of what I achieved. I will definitely return very soon.

My friend gifted me with class as a birthday present and we had a FANTASTIC time. It was so fun to spend time together doing something creative. Our thoughtful instructor John, taught us three techniques for working with clay. At the end of the class we made three pots and got to pick our glazes. The pots will then be mailed to our addresses in four weeks. Highly recommend this class and the value you get out of it!

We loved the experience, it is perfect for any size group. John is extremely knowledgeable and patient. You are shown the different techniques with a live demo and then get the opportunity to practice yourself. The best thing is that you can take any direction with your design and if you don't like it then you can easily start again.

Fabulous handbuilding clay class. The tutor John is so patient and knowledgeable. I have learnt how to do pinch pots, slab building and cooling. Lovely, relaxing space, and great music! Would definitely recommend this to friends for a fun night out and/or an evening doing ceramics.

I really love this ceramics handbuilding class and try to go as often as possible. I've learnt so much about the different processes of handbuilding with clay. The tutors provide a lovely, relaxing and welcoming space for you to explore your creative abilities. They work with you at your pace and encourage you to create something amazing from a lump of clay. Its quite incredible when you see the finished pieces which have been fired and glazed. I would recommend this class to absolute beginner's and also to people like myself who have been working with clay for a while now. It's a great night out in a chilled, relaxing studio space.
